How it works

Three steps, no setup required

The practice tool runs in your browser. No download needed. Three stations are available before signing up.

1
Pick a scenario
Select from 90+ stations across ethics, conflict, teamwork, public health, cultural competence, and policy. The tool tracks which stations you have seen so you do not repeat.
2
Write under pressure
Read the scenario, then write your response before the timer runs out. Standard mode mirrors real CASPer: 60 seconds reading, 3 minutes 30 seconds writing.
3
Get AI quartile feedback
A free account unlocks one AI review per day. The AI scores your response on the Q1-Q4 framework Dan uses in 1:1 coaching, with written feedback and a suggested improvement.
Station bank

What is in the CASPer station bank

All scenarios are written to match real CASPer difficulty and format. The bank covers six topic areas that appear consistently in Australian and NZ CASPer testing:

Ethics and professional obligations Interpersonal conflict Teamwork and leadership Public health and policy Cultural competence Healthcare system dilemmas

The difficulty distribution reflects the range seen in real CASPer testing, from straightforward professional dilemmas to multi-stakeholder policy conflicts. New stations are added regularly.

Timer options

Four timer modes

CASPer uses a fixed timer format in the real test. Practising with multiple modes builds both stamina and instinct.

AI feedback

Q1-Q4 quartile feedback explained

CASPer reports real test results in quartiles: Q1 (bottom 25%), Q2, Q3, and Q4 (top 25%). The Key2MD practice tool gives each response a quartile estimate using the same framework Dan uses in live coaching sessions.

The AI feedback includes a quartile estimate, a written critique of your response structure and argument quality, one specific improvement you could make, and a suggested model approach.

This is not an official Acuity Insights score and should not be used as a prediction of your real test result. Use it as a benchmark to compare improvement across sessions.

Common questions

CASPer practice FAQ

Is the CASPer practice tool free?
Three stations are available before you create an account. A free account unlocks all 90+ stations, saved progress, score history, and one AI feedback review per day. CASPer Pro unlocks unlimited daily AI feedback, which is useful if you are doing heavy timed practice in the weeks before your test.
What timer modes are available?
Standard (60 sec reading + 3 min 30 sec writing), Rapid Fire (30 sec + 2 min), Deep Dive (90 sec + 6 min), Off (no timer), and Special Accommodations (+25% time on both reading and writing). Standard mirrors real CASPer conditions and is the recommended starting point for most students.
What is Q1-Q4 feedback?
CASPer reports real results in quartiles from Q1 (lowest) to Q4 (highest). The Key2MD practice tool gives a quartile estimate per response using the rubric from Dan's 1:1 coaching. It is not an official Acuity Insights score and should not be used as a prediction of your real test result.
What types of scenarios are in the station bank?
Ethics (conflicting duties, honesty, professional obligations), interpersonal conflict (peers, authority, teams), teamwork and leadership, public health and policy, cultural competence and equity, and healthcare system dilemmas. New stations are added regularly.
Can I use this for New Zealand medical schools?
Yes. CASPer is required by Australian and New Zealand medical schools. The Key2MD station bank covers scenarios relevant to both contexts, and the Q1-Q4 framework reflects the same skills assessed in both countries.
